Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Simcoe provide one-to-one and group mentoring services to boys and girls, ages 6 to 18. The agency is looking to fill the following position.


 Volunteer Board Opportunity

At Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Simcoe, it is our mission to promote the healthy development of the children and youth of our community through a variety of quality mentoring programs.

 We are committed to the recruitment of volunteers dedicated to upholding the values and principles of the organization and to those we serve. In all endeavors, we will act with integrity and create an environment that encourages teamwork and respect.

We are seeking individuals with demonstrated leadership skills and a strong commitment to the community, who are positive about the mission, insightful, proactive and can combine service and dedication to Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Simcoe.

As a member of our skill-based Board of Directors, you will enjoy a collegial culture and work closely with other highly committed and qualified volunteer directors.

Our agency is a not for profit charitable organization and all Board positions are volunteer.  

Board members typically commit three to five hours per month, attending monthly board meetings as well as regularly participating in Big Brothers Big Sisters events and services. 


Their duties include:

  • governance and oversight of the agency
  • community advocacy
  • fiscal stability and financial accountability
  • financial supporter and/or contributor to each of the agency’s major fundraising events
  • ensuring legal and ethical integrity
  • succession planning and nomination process of the Board of Directors.
  • being informed about BBBSO’s programs, policies and services
  • successfully completing a Police Clearance and an annual Offence Declaration Statement

- for youth waiting for a match- 2-3 hours per month

In School Mentoring

- a 1:1 opportunity that fits your schedule for the duration of the school year.   1 hour per week
